Separate needs from features
“We need a dashboard” is not yet a business requirement. Record which decision is delayed, who needs information and how improvement will be measured. Then assess whether reporting, a process change or new software is appropriate.
Make the requirement testable
For each requirement describe the user, scenario, input, expected outcome and exception. A sales manager might need overdue proposals by branch and owner at week end. Acceptance can then be checked against a concrete example.
Priorities and change control
Rank requirements by importance and dependencies. Record cost, time and risk impacts for requests outside scope. This aligns business and delivery expectations and reduces later misunderstanding.
