A slow page interrupts the customer journey. A practical sequence for measuring and identifying the cause.

Measure before changing

Check mobile and desktop separately. Distinguish server response, hero image loading, text rendering and interaction delays. A laboratory test may differ from actual visitor experience.

Seven areas to inspect

  1. Image dimensions and formats.
  2. Initial server response and redirects.
  3. Cache rules.
  4. JavaScript size and execution.
  5. Blocking CSS and fonts.
  6. Third-party widgets and tracking.
  7. Data queries and page rendering.

Retest under comparable conditions after each change.

Prioritise the customer journey

Start with the page that matters most for enquiries and its main action. A fast training image does little if the registration button fails. Assess technical metrics alongside form reliability and the enquiry path.
