Why and for what outcome?
Describe the problem, desired outcome and success measure. Explain which work should become more reliable or faster rather than simply “install a system”. Record exclusions as well.
Six agreements
Objective and acceptance; scope boundaries; sponsor and decision owner; milestone dates; resources and budget boundaries; key risks and assumptions. Give each an owner and an approval method.
When scope changes
Do not simply append a new requirement to the plan. Assess its effect on time, cost and other outcomes, then agree the decision with the authorised owner. Practise this with a scenario in project management training.
